Am Freitag, den 25.11. startet ab 19:00 Uhr die "Doch eher ganz winzige Leroy & Dexter - Show" im Comicladen Comics & Graphics (Prenzlauer Allee 46, Berlin)! Es gibt etliche Attraktionen, minimal dosiert: Ausstellung, Lesung, Getränke. Aber auf dem anhängenden Flyer könnt Ihr die Details nachlesen.

Da der Vortragende sich jetzt tat-säch-lich noch erkältet hat, ist es sein Ziel, sämtliches Gerede in lässiger Rock'n'Roll-Stimme zu absolvieren, oder aber die Bude so vollzubekommen, daß technisch sowieso nur noch Rumstehen mit Getränken möglich ist. Im Sinne zweiterer Lösung dürfen wir darum bitten, diese Information - solltet Ihr zufällig eben mal nicht aus Berlin kommen (gibt's ja auch) - weiterzuleiten an potentielle Raumfüller.

Rio Comicon

It was a very special moment, when the guy from the hotel opened the curtains in the room.

There was the atlantic ocean, and when I bent my head down, I saw beautiful people jogging on Ipanema Beach in Rio de Janeiro. Yeah, Rio has a Comic festival since last year, this year was the second issue. I am pretty sure, only few artists will reject their invitation.

Rafael Coutinho and me; before I met him in person, I already was enthusiastic about his comics. Discovered them in a great comic shop called Itiban in Curitiba, a town in the south of Brazil, where I had been for an exhibiton at the local Goethe Institut before coming to Rio.

Curitiba has the oldest comic library of South america, - the oldest and perhaps most beautiful.

The Rio Comicon took place in an abandoned trainstation, an environment which looked more familiar to me, than the 5 star hotel on Praja Ipanema (but no complaints about that).

On top of the sugar loaf

Two days before I have done another trip with a cable car, but this one was not for tourists. It was build by the gouverment for the dwellers of twenty favelas in Rio.

Our group today: Otávio junior, who is organising a mobile library in the favelas, Almerinda Stenzel, the charming lady from the Goetheinstitut in Rio, and next two are working in another library in a favela, it's a beautiful new one, as you can see on the photo below.

Rodrigo Marinho is not only a big fan of the comic reports of Guy Delisle, but also of Günther Grass and Friedrich Nietzsche.

I can highly recommend the comic report "Inside the Favelas" by the brazilian author Augusto Paim and the artist Mau Mau. You can read it online on the website www.cartoonmovement.com.

Am 31.10. startet in Kiel der Monat des Comic, eine Veranstaltungsreihe, die versucht auf die künstlerischen sowie wissenschaftlichen Aspekte des Genres einzugehen und ein kulturelles Netz spannt zwischen der Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel und verschiedenen Einrichtungen der Stadt.

Auf Witteks Zuruf haben etliche deutsche Comiczeichner ihre Arbeitsplätze fotografiert und ins Netz gestellt. Ich will da mal nicht schüchtern sein und der Aufforderung folgen. Die Aufnahme stammt mutmaßlich aus dem Jahr 2005, meine Kommandozentrale sieht aber noch immer genauso aus, nur die drum herum drapierten Bildmaterialen sind heute andere.

Hier noch ein aktuelles Beweisfoto von 2011. Um 10 Uhr morgens scheint die Sonne in mein Zimmer. Ich habe mich damit abgefunden, daß ich bis mindestens 11 Uhr frühstücken muß, bevor sich der penetrante Lichteinfall verzieht. Man sieht ja sonst nichts am Leuchttisch.

Good food and vine in Lyon; unfortunately the conversation was very reduced, because Jean-? from the comic shop didn't speak English and he didn't want to speak German, although he learned it at school for 10 years, his mother was German and a German teacher in France, and as a child he spent his holidays at grandma's house in Germany.

Jean-Marie from the comic shop in Caen was not afraid of speaking English, and his amazing wife, Sophie, spoke it very well. The signing in Caen was fun, it took place in a little cosy restaurant, where the cider never dried.

Emmanuel Guibert arranged to meet with us in an old printing studio called ITEM, founded in the 19th century. Artists like Picasso, Matisse et Miró made lithographies here. We felt like entering sacred halls of graphic art. Emmanuel did printings there, too (so does David Lynch), and he literaly was celebrating a mass for us about the joy of working as a comic artist.

Strip by strip we’re enthralled by hilarious, witty, tragic, odd, outlandish, pretty and sexy scenes – not infrequently all at the same time – taking place between random people in contemporary urban backdrops.

Within the comic tragedy / tragic comedy of life (depending on whether we see the proverbial glass as half full or half empty :) we cannot help but wonder that one day we could easily find ourselves being warped into similarly blobby and scratchy dialogues or settings. Go! Keep Going! to San Vito

Drawings from the e-book "Go! Keep Going" are visible until 4th of december 2010 in an exhibition called "Palinsesti", in Palazzo Altan in San Vito al Tagliamento, a little town near Venice.
The catalogue says: When readers have a look through the strips of the comics Go! Keep Going! they submerge themselves in the urban reality of Berlin’s streets; here the author Ulli Lust guides them through panoramic views and daily life scenes: accidental elements that one can meet wandering aimlessly around the city. The viewer inevitably listens to unknown people’s conversations: he becomes an involuntary spectator of a theatre representation, in which the actors are actually common persons engaged in the pursuit of happiness, of a canonical happy-ending for their existences. With these assumptions we can surely define Go! Keep Going! an example of comic-reportage, in fact it puts together linguistic elements that come from different communicative areas, which seem to be very far one from another. The first is the reportage, a practice involved in the collection of a big quantity of images with the aim of documenting a precise phenomenon; the second one is the comics, which is a practice typically dedicated to the reader’s entertainment: in this case it becomes a way to investigate the reality around us.

Das Filmfestival Eberswalde zeigt vom 2. 10 - 9. 10. 2010 Animationsfilme von Helmut Herbst, Franz Winzentsen, Hanna Nordholt und Fritz Steingrobe unter dem Titel: AUTOPSIE VON FREMDBILDERN.
Als ein „Die Welt neu zusammensetzen“ ließe sich das Vorgehen von Helmut Herbst umschreiben. Sein Weg in die Malerei an der HFBK Hamburg wird dank eines Malereistipendiums in Paris in neue Bahnen gelenkt: In der Cinémathèque Française entdeckt er das Kino für sich. Zurück in Hamburg gründet er 1962 das Trickfilmstudio cinegrafik. Dort produziert er zahlreiche experimentelle Arbeiten, die er mit innovativen Auftragsarbeiten fürs Fernsehen finanziert. cinegrafik entwickelt sich in den Folgejahren zu einer Keimzelle der westdeutschen Filmavantgarde.

Intime Dialoge aus der Welt der Gebrauchsgegenstände verrät der Comicstrip "Dramatik der Dinge" von Katharina Greve seit 2005 auf electrocomics.
Kürzlich traf man sie in einer Berliner Kleingartenkolonie im Herzen von Neukölln, wo sie freundlicheweise die Gespräche der Pflanzen ins Hochdeutsche übersetzte.

Zweifellos war es ein gutes Jahr für electrocomics.
Der Donnerstag abend bei der ICOM-Preisverleihung gestaltete sich fast wie eine Familienfeier, ein guter Freund und lieber Kollege nach dem Anderen wurde auf die Bühne gerufen.

Katharina Greve (Dramatik der Dinge) bekommt gerade einen Preis für das Beste Artwork für ihren Comic "Ein Mann geht an die Decke" (die Biblyothek); sie schaut ernst drein, denn so erfreulich es ist, gelobt zu werden, so eigenartig ist es doch, untätig auf der Bühne zu stehen, wenn weihevolle Reden über einen selbst gehalten werden.

Barbara Yelin nimmt den Sonderpreis für eine bemerkenswerte Comicpublikation für das letztjährige Spring-Magazin #6, Thema "Verbrechen" entgegen.

Thomas Gilke (Leroy & Dexter) lauscht der lobenden Erwähnung für seine grandios gestaltete Printausgabe des Comicstrips "Leroy & Dexter", erschienen 2009 bei avant.

Zum Schluß war es an mir, Harald Havas' freundlichen Ausführungen über mein letztes Buch (Heute ist der letzte Tag vom Rest deines Lebens, avant-verlag) zu folgen. Gewonnen habe ich den Preis für die beste deutsche Comicpublikation 2009.

Oliver Grajewski (Kunst ist vorbei! wenn Du es willst!) gab sich nicht damit zufrieden, einfach nur Originalzeichnungen an die Wand zu hängen. Seine Ausstellung war ein Beispiel für eine gelungene Comicpräsentation. Dafür gönnen wir ihm eine Fotostrecke!

Den Freitag nachmittag verbrachte ich mit Signierstunden und Interviewterminen. Jeder Gesprächspartner drückte mir die Daumen für die Max & Moritz-Preisverleihung heute abend - hatte ich nicht gerade einen Preis bekommen? - mit dem Zusatz "Den hast du eh in der Tasche".
Ich wurde zunehmend nervöser, bis sich kurz vor der Gala eine milde Trance einstellte.
Ich mag keine Wettkämpfe. Sportliche Wettbewerbe haben ihren Sinn, aber aus künstlerischen Werken "das Beste" auszuwählen erscheint mir ein absurdes, wenn nicht überhebliches Unterfangen. Kai Pfeiffer meint: "Ich mag die Max&Moritz-Gala wegen den ganzen Diskussionen drum herum". Damit trifft er den Kern, künstlerische Wettbewerbe sollen das Gespräch über die Nominierten, Nicht-Nominierten, die Jury und das Prozedere anzuheizen. Daneben ist so ein Wettbewerb reines Entertainment, das viele Verlierer und wenige Gewinner zurückläßt. Ich bin es bisher gewohnt, zu Ersteren zu zählen, deshalb haben mich die schmeichelhaften Gewinnprognosen allerorten eher nervös gemacht. Würde ich mit hängendem Kopf aber tapfer lächelnd aus der Veranstaltung schleichen müssen?
Der neueingeführte Publikumspreis hat mich gerettet. Leider gelang es mir diesmal - im Gegensatz zum Vortag - nicht, meiner Freude auf der Bühne Ausdruck zu verleihen. Dem Pathos einer Galaveranstaltung im ehrwürdigen Stadttheater setzte ich instinktive Nüchternheit entgegen. Die Moderatoren Hella von Sinnen und Dennis Scheck stellten essentielle Fragen: "Bist du überascht?", "Bist du jetzt stolz?", "Das ist aber ein sehr langer Comic, den du da gezeichnet hast." Das Publikum saß seit Stunden in einem überhitzen Saal, ich bemühte mich, die Antworten kurz zu halten, und hinterließ dabei den Eindruck leichter Renitenz. Aber das Publikum hat gelacht, und das ist ja das Wichtigeste bei einer Show. Erst später, endlich glücklich auf dem schwarzen Sofa neben Ralf König, fiel mir ein, was ich vergessen hatte, nämlich das Wichtigste, dem Publikum zu danken!!!

Die Kunsthochschule Berlin-Weissensee kann sich übrigens auch gratulieren, denn dieses Jahr gewannen mit Jens Harder, Nadja Budde und mir gleich drei ehemalige Absolventen einen Max&Moritzpreis. Der Dank dafür gebührt natürlich unserer Zeichenprofessorin Nanne Meyer.

a solo exhibition by Nicoz Balboa.
In Nicoz Balboa’s Illustrations there are living girlies with red airs, vintage-style boots and balloon-sleeved dresses and skirts and SM leather masks. This Girlies are mysterious, silent and quite often good friends with anthropomorphic animals, also very silent. Nicoz likes to create a world which doesn’t exist, but in which she would like to live in…. and also many of us. She imagines herself travelling on the back of a magic three-eyed white bear or with a deer of the Enchanted Forest, she sees these Girlies, dressed like a bunch of SadoMaso Alices in Wonderland going to the King’s ball.

"Ein Vorgeschmack auf die Apokalypse", so nennt on3-radio das Interview mit Kai Pfeiffer über seinen Comic über die Reaktorkatastrophe in Tschernobyl. Gezeichnet hatte er den Bildessay im Auftrag des Konzertveranstalters Scumeck Sabottka. Immerhin wird auch die nächsten 100 000 Jahre kein Gras über die Sache wachsen. Seien wir ehrlich: wer glaubt heute noch an die Unfehlbarkeit unserer technischen Möglichkeiten? Hoffen wir mal, daß wir beim nächsten Reaktorunglück wieder ein paar tausend Kilometer entfernt davon leben werden.

Kolbeinn Karlsson (right) is listening to a panel about erotic comics, which took place in a big open space called Kulturhuset during the Swedish festival Small Press Expo.

Kolbeinns fabulous "Troll Kings", partially prepublished on electrocomics, was released on paper by Top shelf productions, USA.

To illustrate the discussion various bizarre fantasies were projected on the wall, while next to the stage Sweden's interested youth went up and down escalators.

The autobio-graphic novel "Heute ist der letzte Tag vom Rest Deines Lebens" (partially prepublished on electrocomics.com) creates quite some interest in other countries. Italian, French and Spanish versions are in preparation. The books seems to be especially anticipated in Italy (coming out in October 2010, at Rizzoli), as we noticed during our visit at Naples for my exhibition at the Goethe-Institut Napoli. The opening was last week, during and co-organized by the Comicon Napoli festival.

Me, wearing a blue coat I found at a Berlin antique shop. It was hand woven in New Mexico (by El Grandee) and arrived 1948 via airlift during the Berlin blockade.

The old lady on the left is a famous Italian intellectual (name???), in the middle the charming Johanna Wand, who organized the exhibition at the Goethe-Institut.

NEXTcomicfestival, Linz, Österreich

Eine Ausstellung möchte ich nicht unerwähnt lassen, sie war ein Höhepunkt des diesjährigen NEXTcomicfestivals in Linz. Michael Jordan, Helmut Kaplan und Edda Strobl informierten anschaulich über den Status Quo zu der im April erscheinenden Publikation TONTO-COMICS #12: NORDPOL. Gezeigt wurden Originalarbeiten daraus und Materialien dazu.

Nicolas Mahler zeigt - inspiriert von Cosplaybräuchen - eine typische rituelle Geste seines "characters" (letztes Wort ist Englisch auszusprechen).

Wir starren traurig in unsere mit Fruchtsaft und Wasser gefüllten Gläser. Zur gut besuchten Eröffnungsfeier wurde kein Alkohol serviert.

Kati Rickenbach zeigte ihre erstaunlich großformatigen Originalzeichnungen aus "No water on O-Block" (e-book bei electrocomics), und ich las aus meinem Buch "Heute ist der letzte Tag vom Rest Deines Lebens".

Hier sieht man mich am Festival herumlungern, im Arm den Comic "Curt Kubin" von Christoph Raffetseder und Herbert Christian Stöger. Diese sympathisch verschrobene Bilderzählung über den österreichischen Maler Alfred Kubin ist soeben beim Verlag Bibliothek der Provinz erschienen. Man sollte sich vom reisserischen Titel nicht blenden lassen, dieses Werk ist eine delikate Lektüre, und ein Augenschmauß natürlich auch.

FUMETTO: Comic Workshop mit Nicolas Robel

Eigentlich hätte Killoffer den diesjährigen Fumetto-Comic-Workshop halten sollen, er hat aber kurzfristig abgesagt. Für ihn springt Nicolas Robel ein, was auch die inhaltliche Ausrichtung des Workshops ändert: Kindercomics anstatt Kack&Kotzorgien. Bei genauer Betrachtung scheint der Unterschied garnicht so groß zu sein.

Comicfestival Angouleme 2010

Reisen im Winter ist voller Tücken. Unser Flugzeug nach Paris mußte vor dem Abflug erst aufwändig enteist werden, deshalb versäumten Kai Pfeiffer und ich den Anschlußzug nach Angouleme. Wenigstens konnte man die Tickets für den finanzschonend früh gebuchten TGV innerhalb einer Stunde nach Abfahrt des Zuges umtauschen. Wir hetzten zum Fahrkartenschalter und erfuhren "Ja, sie können noch umtauschen, aber das Ticket kostet jetzt 90 Euro mehr". "Haben wir eine andere Wahl?" fragten wir seufzend. Die kaugummikauende Schalterdame überlegte ein wenig, rechnete uns vor "Sie könnten eventuell nach Paris reinfahren, und von dort ... inclusive 35% Ermäßigung wegen unserer Festivalpässe usw." Aber auch diese Möglichkeit war teurer, also entschieden wir: "Nein, wir tauschen nur die Tickets für den TGV." Die Dame nickte freundlich, tippte in ihren Computer, schaute zu uns auf und sage: "Tut mir leid, die Möglichkeit Ihr Ticket umzutauschen ist vor einer Sekunde verfallen." Der Computer hat gesprochen. Das neue Ticket für uns beide kostete 160 Euro.
Am Comicfestival schlug dieses Jahr die Finanzkrise durch, die Verkäufe gingen im Vergleich zum Vorjahr deutlich zurück. Als Käufer merkte man es an der glücklichen Überaschung der Verlagsmitarbeiter, wenn man ein Buch erwerben wollte. Als Zeichnerin wunderte ich mich über die spärlichen Verkäufe meines Buches "Airpussy", das in Berlin recht leichtfüssig die Ladentheken überquert. Es ist dieses Jahr beim belgischen Verlag L’employé du Moi erschienen:

Dieses Foto zeigt den Autor Philippe Vanderheyden am frühen Morgen am Verlagsstand von L’employé du Moi. Phillippes Hauptbeschäftigung auf dem Festival war es, für die neugründete Radioshow des Verlags Interviews zu führen. Phillipe war sehr nett zu uns, aber er gab auf subtile Art zu erkennen, wo seine Prioritäten lagen. Zwei Beispiele mögen diesen Eindruck illustrieren: Kai und ich frühstückten im Hotel de Ville (Autoren und Festivalmitarbeiter bekommen dort einen Gratiskaffee), als sich Joe Sacco zu uns setzte. Joe war deutlich überarbeitet, sein neues Buch "Footnotes in Gaza" war zeitgleich mit der amerikanischen Ausgabe auf französisch erschienen, Joe wurde ständig umlagert von Journalisten, die Werbung für den Comic war auf dem Festival allgegenwärtig. Sein Lächeln wirkte schon ein wenig eingefroren. Während er bei uns saß und endlich das Grinsen abstellen konnte, schlichen Philippe und sein Tonmann näher. Sie wisperten mir ehrfurchtsvoll ins Ohr: "You think, you can ask Joe Sacco to do an Interview with us?" Joe seufzte tief, sehr tief und floh.

Der kleine Mann in der Lederjacke, der gerade aus dem Fenster schaut und Schneeflocken betrachtet, ist Joe Sacco, im Vordergrund sieht man Christian Gasser mit einem finnischen Kollegen.

Der Verlag, der eigentlich eher ein Künstlerkollektiv ist, hatte ein kleines Haus außerhalb von Angouleme gemietet, zu dem wir alle spätnachts mit einem Kleinbus fuhren. So eine Gruppe zur gemeinsamen Abfahrt zu versammeln ist naturgemäß eine Geduldsprobe. Sonntagmorgen weit nach Mitternacht waren wir endlich zum Wagen aufgebrochen, als jemand rief: "Wo ist Philippe?" Phillipe war verschwunden, die Gruppe löste sich wieder auf, um Philippe zu suchen, Kai, Bertrand und ich warteten an der Strassenecke und meditierten über den warmen Nebelschwaden, die aus unseren Mündern stiegen. Wir warteten sehr lange. Als Philippe endlich auftauchte, verkündete er glücklich, er hätte einen französischen Schauspieler gesehen, einen sehr berühmten (ich kannte ihn nicht, aber was heißt das schon), und unbedingt in Kontakt treten müssen. "What did you talk to him?" fragt ich. "We didn't have a special topic, we talked about this and that, about cinema, about comics ..." Ich antwortete "I hope for you, that you feel enlightend now from your small talk with this holy person."
Unnötig zu erwähnen, daß er kein Interesse hatte, ein Interview mit uns zu führen, wer waren wir schon. Mein Buch verkaufte sich schleppend. Ein Magazin, an dem ich beteiligt war, "Spring 06" war immerhin nominiert für den "Fanzinepreis" des Festivals, die Selection BD alternative, aber diese Nominierung wurde nirgends auf dem Festival bekannt gegeben, während die 50 anderen nominierten Bücher in einem eigenen Zelt präsentiert wurden. Ich schlenderte durch eines der Zelte, als ein Windstoß einen Aufsteller umwarf, genau vor meine Füsse. Guterzogen hob ich ihn auf, und entdeckte darauf ein vertrautes Bild, das Titelblatt der letzten Ausgabe von Spring! Barbara Yelin hatte das Heft eingereicht.
Ich traf sie einen halben Tag später signierend am Stand ihres Verlags Editions de l'An2. "Bist Du am Sonntag noch da, um den Preis entgegen zu nehmen?" fragte ich sie. "Welcher Preis?" Barbara wußte nichts von der Nominierung, niemand hatte sie benachrichtet. Auch sie reiste Sonntag mittags ab und die Gala fand erst Sonntag abend statt. Gewonnen hat ohnehin jemand anders.

Einen Preis gewonnen hat auch Jens Harder mit dem ersten Band seines Mammutprojektes "Alpha". Nach Fertigstellung wird es nichts weniger illustrieren, als die Geschichte der Welt. Aus persönlichen Gründen bin ich keine Freundin des Künstlers, aber diese Preisentscheidung hat mich doch gefreut, ja, ich war sogar ein wenig stolz auf ihn. Wie wenn Österreich die Fussballweltmeisterschaft gewinnen würde, und selbst fussballdesinteressierte Österreicher sich mitfreuen. Es ist übrigens ähnlich unwahrscheinlich, daß eine österreichische Mannschaft zur Fussballweltmeisterschaft zugelassen wird, wie daß ein deutscher Zeichner in der Grande Comic Nation Frankreich Preise gewinnt.

Hier sitzen Kai und ich mit Kristiina Kolemainen beim Abendessen. Kristiina ist als comicbegeisterte ältere Frau ein Unikum. Sie leitet die Comicbibliothek in Stockholm und organisiert dort das jährliche Comicfestival. Anfang 2009 wurde bei ihr Krebs diagnostiziert, der Arzt empfahl dringendst eine sofortige Entfernung des Tumors. Kristiina sagte nur:"Völlig unmöglich! Nächste Woche fahre ich zum Comicfestival nach Angouleme, die Operation muß warten". "I have to visit the festival, I cannot do my work without visiting Angouleme" erklärte sie mir, worauf ich antwortete: "You cannot do your work, when you are dead too." Erst nach ihrer Rückkehr durfte der Arzt den 3,8 Kilo schweren Tumor aus ihrer Niere schneiden, heute, ein Jahr später, ist sie vollständig gesundet, nicht mal einer Chemotherapie mußte sie sich unterziehen. Ich wiederum erkläre Kristiina zu meiner Heldin "This is what I call passion!!!"

Diese drei gutaussehenden Männer sind Dash Shaw, Kai Pfeiffer und Frank Santoro, von allen Dreien haben wir Bücher zu Hause. Wir verstanden uns auf Anhieb. Dash kommentierte meine Graphic Novel "Heute ist der letzte Tag ..." mit den Worten: "Fantagraphics would take it in a second". Amerikaner sind ja immer gleich so überschwenglich. Aber seine Begeisterung schien ehrlich, denn er wollte das Buch unbedingt besitzen (obwohl er kein Deutsch versteht). Dank ihm habe ich meine ersten Dollars verdient, er wollte sich das Buch nicht schenken lassen. Ich sollte den 20-Dollarschein rahmen und übers Zeichenbrett hängen.

Am vorletzten Tag des Festivals habe ich Kai gebeten, auch mal ein Foto von mir zu schießen:
Ohnehin habe ich viel zu wenig fotographiert, die meisten anwesenden netten Kollegen und Comicaktivisten wurden hier nicht ins Bild gerückt, wie z.B. Mawil, Nicolas Mahler, Johanna Rojola, Andrea Bruno, Liliana Cupido, Hamed Eschrat, Manuele Fior, Alex Baladi, Marcos Farrajota, Fabienne Anthes, Sascha Hommer, Laureline Michon, Christian Maiwald, Hannes Ulrich, Dirk Rehm, Klaus Schikowski, Bodo Birk, Sabine Wittkowski, Lynn Kost, Gàsper Rus, Uli Oesterle, Martin Jurgeit ... und natürlich nicht zu vergessen all jene, die wir leider verpasst haben!
Und auf dem letzten Bild sieht man den Schaffner im TGV beim vergeblichen Versuch, panische Passagiere zu beruhigen. Der Zug stand 2 Stunden still, weil ein Störfall in der Stromversorgung das gesamte Streckennetz Frankreichs lahmgelegt hatte. Nicht alle Festivalbesucher hatten soviel Glück wie wir: wir erreichten unsere Anschlussflüge nach Hause in letzter Minute.
Nicolas Mahler durfte 370,- Euro für ein neues Flugticket drauflegen.

Dramatik der Dinge reloaded

Nach einer kurzen Weihnachtspause wird die Comicstripserie "Dramatik der Dinge" von Katharina Greve seit Dienstag den 19. Januar fortgesetzt. Wie gehabt wird es Dienstags alle zwei Wochen einen neuen deutsche Strip zu lesen geben und alle vier Wochen einen neuen Englischen.
Auch ohne Wartezeiten kann man sich bereits jetzt an über 100 dieser charmanten Minidramen delektieren.

Katharina Greve sammelt in ihrer Freizeit begeisterte Rezensionen für ihren im Herbst 2009 beim Verlag "Die Biblyothek erschienenen Comic "Ein Mann geht an die Decke". So schreibt zum Beispiel Lars von Törne im Berliner Tagesspiegel: "Der originellste und fantasievollste Berlincomic seit langem..." und Andreas Platthaus in der FAZ: "Dieses späte Debut ist ein grosser Wurf."
Dem können wir nur zustimmen.

2009 was an exciting year for electrocomics. There was a big exhibition on the next-comic festival in linz/austria. There were some great e-book releases, like the breathtaking e-book "art is over! If you want it! by Oliver Grajewsiky, or the graphic novel "canimus" by Knut Larsson, or the beautiful "Maria and the milkchild" by Alessia Conidi.

One graphic novel of myself, prepublished in chapters while working on it, was published in October 2009 by the German publisher avant-verlag: "Heute ist der letzte Tag vom Rest deines Lebens". Some time before the release we made an offer to readers on electrocomics, to order the book for a special prize. There were over 80 orders before the book was even published!
Two months after the release we had to do a second printrun. There were a lot of enthusiastic reviews in German, Austrian and Swiss media, but here you can read one in english, written by Christian Gasser (written on demand of Paul Gravett, who asked Journalists for their favorite comics in 2009):
